Local Government
We offer a full range of legal services to Local Government clients covering not only their property and commercial transactions but also their statutory functions, internal policies and procedures.
Our experience in advising local authorities on their statutory functions covers planning, licensing, housing and environmental health and we can provide advice, drafting of statutory notices and advocacy in each of these areas. We have considerable experience in the area of Town & County Planning where we act for both local planning authorities and developers. In addition to being recognised as Section 106 specialists we can advise on all areas of planning and environmental law; including planning enforcement, advertisement control, listed buildings and legal issues surrounding planning applications and appeals against refusals of planning permission.
We are also able to advise in respect of the Members Code of Conduct and investigations, the interpretation of standing orders, Data Protection and Freedom of Information.
On the property and commercial side we can advise on land acquisitions, disposals, site assembly (including compulsory purchase orders) and development agreements. We also advise on procurement, contracts and outsourcing, including compliance with EU procurement rules and internal contract standing orders. We have particular expertise in the areas of IT, waste contracts and environmental law.
