Kent cricketing heroes express gratitude to Vertex Law
Sun 08 June 2008
Guests of Vertex Law (all of whom were keen cricketing fans) were treated to a special event sponsored by Vertex Law which took place at the St Lawrence Cricket Ground, Canterbury during the Kent v Sussex Championship Match on Sunday 8th June. Former Kent and Charlton Athletic player, Derek Ufton regularly organises a reunion lunch for former capped players of Kent County Cricket Club. Through Vertex Law's association with Charlton Athletic, Derek Ufton and Stuart Butler-Gallie arranged for Vertex Law to sponsor this year’s former capped players day, which included a sit down buffet lunch in the pavilion during the Kent v Sussex game.
This coincided with the presentation of numbered caps to the families of deceased former players who sadly were not alive when the club introduced the presentation of sequential numbered caps starting with the foundation of the Club in 1806.
Stuart Butler-Gallie said "as a keen follower in my youth of the great Kent side of the 1970s, it was an honour and privilege for Vertex Law to sponsor this event and not only to be able to sit next to my cricketing heroes such as Derek Underwood, Asif Iqbal, Alan Ealham and Norman Graham, but to have them thank me for sponsoring the event".
Derek Ufton said "the event was a huge success and a real opportunity for former players to get together to share memories of great times in each of their lives. I am personally very grateful to Vertex Law for sponsoring the Former Capped Players Day, which meant that this year we could lay on an impressive event".
