Vertex Law hosts local authority developer contributions workshop
Tue 22 July 2008
The Vertex Law specialist public sector team hosted a workshop for planners and lawyers at Kent Local Authorities on developer contributions. Vertex Law's Local Authority and planning expert Lee May gave a talk on the Planning Bill 2008 and Chris Marsh of Chris Marsh & Co. Ltd, sustainable property consultants www.suspc.co.uk presented on Reviewing Development Appraisals from the Local Authority Perspective. There was then a lively workshop on topics arising from the presentations and the pre workshop questionnaire, such as the use of financial contribution conditions in planning permissions which at times resembled ancient Rome, with Christians and lions in the coliseum. However everyone was in agreement that while the pastry breakfast was tasty, they wanted bacon butties next time.
Richard Blackman head of the Vertex Law specific public sector team who chaired the workshop said “There is a huge demand from Local Authority Officers to share best practice and have the opportunity to debate opinions on topics that affect all local authorities. The Vertex Law workshop provided such a forum. We will shortly be going live with our Local Authority web forum site giving Officers the chance to share and debate ideas on topics of their choice which we believe will provide a real new service to local authorities and promote best practice."
