Vertex Law once again has been placed as one of the leading South East legal businesses following the release of independently recognised rankings.
Vertex Law based at Kings Hill, came out top in Chambers and Partners 2009 - the bible of the legal profession which is importantly based on client feedback.
Vertex Law’s corporate finance team achieved the number one ranking for the South East with lawyers Trevor Carney and Stuart Butler-Gallie ranked first across the region and James Beatton following in second place.
Chambers states: “The group here impresses on all fronts with its “commercial, switched-on, well-resourced and proactive advice.” The young firm continues to grow, to such an extent that it has moved to new offices to accommodate this expansion. The corporate team is going from strength to strength in a number of sectors, with healthcare and waste management being the two key fronts on which it has chosen to focus.”
During the last twelve months has seen Vertex Law Corporate Finance Team acting for Day Lewis with its acquisition of 32 chemist shops spread across the country, creating one of the largest independent retail pharmacies in the UK. In the waste sector, founding partner Stuart Butler-Gallie recently led the team that acted for the shareholders of Verdant Group in its sale to NTR/Greenstar for an undisclosed substantial sum. They have also been involved in a string of acquisition finance instructions from NatWest/RBS.
Stuart Butler-Gallie said: “Recognition in Chambers and Partners is seen within the profession as a true reflection of a firm’s standing because of its reliance not only on client commentary, but independent third party assessment. We are delighted that the Vertex Law brand continues to attract real recognition in the market place. We are particularly pleased that the huge steps we have taken to grow the brand in specialist sectors beyond our regional heartland is also acknowledged.
The Property Team at Vertex were also highlighted with Robert Dodgson moving up to being ranked No. 2 in the region.
Chambers states “Vertex’s real estate team has created a prosperous practice in a remarkably short space of time, already generating enough work to divide into specialist teams”.
Chambers is an independent, annual guide to the UK’s legal profession. Rankings are assessed on criteria that include technical legal ability, professional conduct, client service, commercial awareness/astuteness, diligence, commitment and other qualities clients consider relevant.
