KEiBA 2012 - EMS secures first place
Congratulations to EMS Security Group, winner of the Vertex Law-sponsored Best Technology and/or Science Business category in this year’s Kent Excellence in Business Awards.
The Herne Bay company is a market-leader in wireless fire and security technology and impressed the judges with its “commitment to innovation, significant impact as an employer and supplier, and impressive use of technology.”
The category, which was jointly sponsored by the University of Kent, attracted a high standard of entrants and saw Medway-based Pitney Bowes and Aquaread, of Broadstairs, also making it through to the finals.
Vertex Law judge Pete Kenyon said: “We were very impressed by the quality of the entrants and were struck by the sheer breadth of products and services on offer, and the range of companies involved.
“It provided real evidence that Kent is home to a thriving science and technology community, crucial in helping to carry the county through challenging economic conditions.
“Having whittled the entries down to eight, we were left with the task of choosing three finalists. Our two runners-up were both very strong candidates and did well to get so far. They were, though, pipped to the post by EMS.”
The awards were presented at a black tie dinner at Priestfield stadium attended by some 500 representatives of the county’s business community, including a Vertex Law table of 10.
Guest speaker was entrepreneur Rachel Elnaugh, of Dragons’ Den and Red Letter Day fame.
